When you think of the top clubs around the world you think of St. John’s Park, Cabramatta, Tweed Heads and Warilla all in Australia. Along with Fendalton and Burnside in New Zealand. But the club of Helensvale has been home to some of Australia’s top international bowlers for the last couple years and they prove to be the new standard by being home to new Australian Open Champions – Lynsey Armitage and Mark Casey. Also AO Open Paris Champion, skip Nathan Rice.
I was lucky enough to visit this club 2 months ago and was met with open arms as I played in the Premier League Opening Day with Rice and Casey. Known for their top bowlers which also includes Australian Team member Brett Wilkie, the club has a social/family atmosphere that allows these top bowlers to compete, train and be themselves around the club. This proves that winners that train together, can go out and win together.
Helensvale was also home last year to World #1 Safuan Said – who stayed and played for the club in 2011.
Congratulations to all competitors in the 2012 Australian Open.
