Ronnie Jones to enter Sports Hall of Fame…
|One of Canada’s and if not the most distinguished bowlers will finally get the recognition he deserves as Ron Jones (London, ON) will enter the London Sports Hall of Fame. Mr. Jone’s career has inspired bowlers across Canada to try and follow in the path that he has created, definitely a hard act to follow.
Mr. Jones joined the Canadian National Team in 1974 and has played the sport of bowls around the world, representing his country in more than 25 plus international tournaments adding more that 500 international caps to his resume. His highest pinnacle would come in 1986 in Edinburgh Scotland, when he would gain a Silver Medal alongside long time friend Bill Boettger in the Pairs. This feared combo would add many medals together as they would not be looked upon lightly when the draws were situated.
Ron would go on to add to his career with:
Canadian National Team 1974 – 1994
Silver 1986 Commonwealth Games
7: Canadian Gold
3: Asia Pacific Gold
12: Ontario Gold
23: WOBA titles
6: time WOBA player of the week
Current WOBA Pairs Champ
Congratulations to the Jones Family and a thank you Ronnie for all your contributions to the sport we all love, you are a true Champion on and off the greens.
