*Due to the current situation with COViD-19, we have postponed this years tournament and will look to reschedule this for next year. If the Lawn Bowling Club does open this summer we might look at having an Open BBQ where we can all get together to have a day on the greens. Updates to come regarding the day, tournament and the Opening of The Hospice.
Thank you all for your continued support and we hope that you are staying Safe, Healthy and Happy!
Helping Hospice Huronia Achieve Their Dream…
This would have been the 3rd Annual Sandy Mason & Friends Charity Lawn Bowls Day held at the Midland & District Lawn Bowling Club as we were aiming for the tournament to be on Saturday July 4th, 2020. Our Mother was a pure athlete that loved playing and watching Sports of any kind. We adopted the motto of get out and be active, try something new and have fun doing it. As with lawn bowling, Sandy quickly became a fan and could see our passion within the sport. I have heard all of the jokes about the Sport, so now it’s your turn to get out on the greens and try Lawn Bowling to see how you do!
The event will be helping Hospice Huronia raise funds to help build a complete residential care facility. This will provide people that are sick with a warm, welcoming and homelike setting, where individuals who are unable to die at home, can come with their families and receive expert hospice care along with Comfort, Care, Compassion. In the past two years with help from all of our amazing Friends, Family and Community, we have been able to raise more than $15,000 to contribute to the Hospice and we continue to work hard to help the Hospice reach its goals with the help of everyone!
The Tournament Format
The day will consist of a maximum 32 Teams competing to be the first to get their names on the trophy. Each Team will play 2 short games, with registration starting at 10:00am. Haven’t lawn bowled before, we kind of figured that so not too worry as we have all the equipment you need. All you need is a Team of 4 people, a fun creative name and the attitude to try something new.
Coast For Each Team: $160.00
Included: 4 lunch tickets, along with a non-alcoholic beverage.
Equipment: All equipment on site for you to use
What You Can Say: You checked off lawn bowls on your bucket list
What You Did: Supported a Community Charity and helped a worthy cause.
There will be lots to drink and a BBQ lunch made available from Midland M&M Meats as Gary and Bobbi Miller have graciously stepped up to help sponsor the afternoon. Lots of great prizes throughout the day with a final prize table and great silent auction items available for the highest bidders. Once again all proceeds will go towards Hospice Huronia.
The after party will be held at The Boathouse Eatery where food and more drinks will be available, with a special arrangements for all the tournament participants from our great friend George Papastathis. A huge thank you to Archie & Billy Meridis for helping with all of the beverage arrangements for the day.
