The Spirit Award was created in 2006, it exemplifies an athlete’s sportsmanship and attitude on and off the greens at the Canadian Championships. Since the inception of this award the medal has been awarded to 12 different players and 1 Team, across 9 different Provinces across Canada. Mathieu Gauvin from Quebec, was the inaugural winner of the award in Regina, SK in 2006.
Winners of The Spirit Award are selected by their peers throughout the week and awarded the medal at the closing ceremonies of the Canadian Championships.
