Lee & Bhartu Win Canadian Mix….

It’s starting to become old hat for Josephine Lee and Hiren Bhartu from BC who went out and won the Canadian Mix title once again. This is the 4th National title for them together. The duo joined forces in 2005 and have been a wrecking crew in this discipline as they have ran through the competition over the years. Hiren has been idle on the bowls front for the last two years as he has taken a few years off to relax, but showed the fire is still there as he came back to roll through teams. Josephine lost in the final last year as she teamed up with Vince Mai.

Bhartu and Lee also won the national title on Vancouver Island in 2005, in Ottawa in 2006 and Midland, Ont., in 2009. They did not play together in 2010 and 2011.

B.C. finished atop the round-robin standings with an 8-1-0 record followed by Saskatchewan (6-2-1), Ontario B (6-3-0) and Manitoba (5-3-1). Rounding out the standings in order were New Brunswick’s LeRoy McGinn and Eleanor Murray (4-4-1), Nova Scotia’s Steve and Lorraine Bezanson (4-4-1), Ontario A’s David and Sandra Jefferies (4-5-0), Prince Edward Island’s Ivan Doucette and Ivan Reid (2-7-0), Alberta’s Paul Maskell and Helen McCrady (2-7-0) and Quebec’s Wayne and Faye Hossack (2-7-0).

Congratulations to all the competitors and to Josephine and Hiren who proved their caliber once again.
