Santana Off & Running – Champ of Champs….

After several years of being hosted on the other side of the World, the World Bowls Single’s Champion of Champions returns to Europe in 2012.  The Constantinou Bros Athena Hotels resort in Paphos, Cyprus with its 22 full size outdoor rinks located on the hotel grounds, with glorious sea view is the perfect location for this event.

The tournament started to today for Stevie as he drew Netherlands first with a tough match against experienced International player Frank de Vries, losing in a tie break 9-5, 6-9, 1-2. The second text came through around 4:15 this morning with a better news as in the second game Stevie took out Norfolk Island 9-4,12-9 to even the record for the tournament.

Later in the evening draw Stevie took on Spain a country that he knows too well as he has a passport and could play for Spain if he chose to.  It was another tight tilt but came out on top 11-14, 8-5, 3-2 in the tie-break. After Day 1 Stevie currently sits in 2nd place behind Australia’s Brett Wilke
